Disney Buys Marvel

The Disney Blog, io9, and others are reporting one of the most shocking stories I've heard in awhile. Disney has purchased Marvel Comics for around $4 billion. This is obviously huge for comic book fans (and comic book movie fans) but has even more intriguing and downright unusual interest for theme park fans, since the theme park rights to the Marvel characters belong to Universal, with the Marvel superheroes having their own land at Islands of Adventure. Now John Frost speculates that a Disney/IOA deal could be in the future but I think that's jumping to a few too many conclusions. Nevertheless, it opens up some VERY interesting possibilities for the theme parks.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the Marvel comics, Marvel characters and properties include Spider Man, The Hulk, Iron Man, X-Men, Captain America, and Fantastic Four.
